Christen Webb Finds Self and Community Fulfillment at UWT.

Webb loves getting to grow and learn in something she is interested in, but then getting to see the benefits of what she does as well.

When it comes to serving her community as a Citizen Forester, Christen Webb loves the self-fulfillment and community-fulfillment she experiences each time she plants a new tree. She loves getting to grow and learn in something she is interested in, but then getting to see the benefits of what she does as well.

“There’s tangible evidence of what you do and how you help Tulsa for the rest of your life,” said Webb. “So, the first time that we planted trees as Citizen Foresters, I thought you know, this is something that I’m going to tell my kids in 20 years that I planted that tree when it was shorter than you are.”

As Citizen Foresters and volunteers, she believes this is something people can see 20, 30, 40 years down the road and everyone remembers which trees they planted, too. You know you’re gonna drive by that site, maybe just once a week, maybe once a year, but you’ll know which tree you planted and you’ll know that you helped make Tulsa a better place.
