Danielle Terrio Engages Students in Outdoor Learning.
Terrio is confident that they can cover all of the objectives that they do inside the classroom outside of the classroom and hopefully without all of the two dimensional paperwork that seems to really be a trigger for a lot of kids.
As a teacher at Hamilton Elementary, Danielle Terrio thinks engaging in the outdoors is the most natural way to learn. She enjoys seeing her students apply the lessons from the classroom freely in the outdoor environment. They are still categorizing based on shape, still counting the lobes of a leaf, and learning terms like serrated versus smooth edges to a leaf. Terrio is confident that they can cover all of the objectives that they do inside the classroom outside of the classroom and hopefully without all of the two dimensional paperwork that seems to really be a trigger for a lot of kids.
“Tree School and the 25 new fruit & shade trees have transformed Hamilton. Our kids share in the vision of our campus, pass down what they learned, look forward to harvesting our fruit, and interact with our landscape in a new way. We are absolutely changed by Up With Trees and the gift they brought us,” said Terrio.
