Black Tupelo
One of the most beautiful native trees around, the Black Tupelo has dark green summer leaves with a lustrous appearance, but is truly spectacular in the fall. With many vibrant shades of yellow, orange, bright red, purple and scarlet leaves – many of which may appear on the same branch. Resembling alligator hide, the bark matures to a medium gray. Birds love the bluish-black fruit produced by the tree. It also provides nutrition for bees in early to late spring.
