Bur Oak

The Bur Oak is a white oak with a rounded shape and large acorns highly desired by wildlife. It has a slow to moderate growth and is well suited for windbreaks. Bur Oaks requires full sun and grows well in acidic, alkaline, loamy, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils. It prefers moderate moisture, but has some drought tolerance. Few insects or diseases cause serious damage to bur oak, but the size of the tree, leaves, and acorns should be taken into consideration when choosing a planting location.
