Chinese Date
Also known as “Jujube”, this exotic tree produces fruits that have a similar taste to an apple. When left on the vine, the oval-shaped, single-stoned fruit will dry and become wrinkled like figs. Chinese Dates are a medium-sized, deciduous tree that has shiny green leaves and light gray bark. A hardy tree with drought tolerance, regular water will help with fruit production. Unlike apples or peaches, Chinese Dates do not have big, showy flowers. Instead, they are small, pale greenish-yellow fragrant flowers and last several weeks, making them good nectar plants.
