Fig

Fig trees are cultivated in warm climates. The fig was one of the earliest fruit trees to be cultivated, and was one of the main foods amongst the Spartans. When the leaves and stem are broken, a white latex will exude. Fig fruits grow singly or in pairs, and provide food for one-tenth of all the world’s birds. The blossoms do not grow on the branches, but can be found within the fruit. Fig trees thrive in a wide range of soil types.
