Green Vase Zelkova
The Green Vase Japanese Zelkova is a good choice for urban trees as it is an excellent shade tree and can be planted along streets. The branches generally grow upright in a v-shape formation. When it’s young, this tree has a smooth bark that is reddish brown, and overtime as it matures, it turns to a gray-brown. Its leaves are a medium size with a bright green, and in the fall they turn to shades of orange, brown, yellow, deep red, and reddish-purple. These trees, once established, are fairly drought and wind tolerant when properly pruned, and have good resistance against Dutch elm disease, Elm leaf beetle, and Japanese beetle.
