Lacebark Elm

Known for a striking bark pattern, Lacebark Elms are fast-growing and hardy trees. The bark exfoliates with a mottled pattern in shades of brown, gray, green and orange. They are known to do well in urban conditions as they can adapt to many soil conditions. Additionally, they are relatively free of the diseases that devastate other elm species. The leaves are dark green and glossy with serrated edges. Their fall color ranges from yellow to purple and is more definite than other elms. Lacebark Elms provide ideal habitat for small animals and birds, and the seeds are an excellent source of nutrition for several birds.
