Live Oak

Live Oak trees were named after their ability to keep their green leaves and to “stay alive” all through winter. They produce sweet edible acorns that are nutritious to turkeys, ducks, jays, quail, deer and other animals; however, they don’t produce acorns until they are about 20 years old. Live Oak trees can grow for hundreds of years, and can grow in forests in front of buildings such as schools, parking lots, gardens, backyards and more. As they’re resistant to salt, they can also grow near oceans. Due to their wide spreading branches, they produce an abundance of shade, and are very strong and tough.
