Pecan
The Pecan Tree, on average, is a slow growing tree and can take more than 10 years to mature. In ideal conditions, it can live and continue to produce fruit for over 200 years. Pecans are recommended for a healthy heart because they have monounsaturated fats. It is the state tree in Texas, and its pecans are used to make the famous Butter Pecan ice cream. The word “pecan” is Native American and is used to describe nuts requiring a stone to crack.
